Flood Invasion: Rivers Assembly Meets With NLNG, Intels, Others
….Tasks them On Proactive Measures
In it’s continued efforts to make a case for flood affected areas, the House committee on Environment has organised a meeting with the private sector including International Oil Companies (IOCs)in the state.
The Chairman of the committee,Hon. Dumle Maol said the meeting was necessitated by the need to seek collaboration with relevant stakeholders on how best to tackle the problem of flood in the state.
During the meeting, members of the committee had in their separate remarks, asked the international oil companies operating in the areas affected by flood to fashion out ways to cushion the effects of the menace on the victims.
Oh his part, the Chief Whip of the House, Hon. Evans Bipi charged the Authorities of NLNG , INTELS and the Ministry of Environment on proactive measures towards ensuring that Rivers people are saved from the devastating effects of flood.
In a separate development, the Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon Martin Chike Amaewhule, has lauded the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike over steps taken to enable free flow of traffic in the State .
He said this while reacting to the recent moves by the Governor to construct three flyover bridges in Port-Harcourt.
Describing Gov. Wike as a pro-people administrator, he noted that when completed the bridges would ameliorate the plight of commuters within the state and commended the Governor for always keeping to his promises.
