Baen Community Expresses Joy As Peace Returns
Following the recent cult clash and kidnappings by some bandits in Baen community, the military forces have been dispatched to secure the area.
Speaking with National Network, Chairman of Baen CDC, Hon. Thomas Bari-ere said that there has been complete and total collapse of law and order arising from activities of cult groups, but these military men introduced check points and through the instrumentality of stop and check, they were able to apprehend some criminals who were moving around with weapons.
He said, “The circumstances that led to the outbreak of law and order were basically cult related but their presence at those check points made the law unabiding youths to take to their heels and flee the community.”
During an interview with our reporter, the villagers expressed joy and appreciation over the presence of security forces for the peace, law and order which had been restored to the community. They noted that the great relief.
The Deputy Paramount Ruler of Baen community, Chief MeeluBari Mgbara Ekoro who also spoke with our reporter said, the villagers were living in fear and couldn’t attend to their various means to livelihood, until the mobilization of the security forces that promoted peace and relief in the minds of the villagers.
According to him, “At their arrival, the people were all happy and relieved, thus, returning to their various businesses, giving thanks to God for the relative peace obtained through their presence.
Chief MeeluBari also disclosed that their presence facilitated the recent amnesty program in his Local Government Area which resulted in a great success and is the reason why its citizens are very much free of fear in running their day to day activities.
Hon. Thomas further stated that those who were perpetrating these lawless acts, not just within the community but including other areas, were arrested and charged to court.
Residents of Baen community also thanked the Local Government Chairman and the Law Enforcement Agencies for providing amnesty to cultists.
