Aker Road Residents Happy Over Road Rehabilitation

Residents of Aker Road, Rumuolumeni, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, have expressed gratitude to Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for the rehabilitation of their road.

The resident of the area said they are happy because the rehabilitation of the road would save them from years of economic hardship.

Mrs. Uzoigwe Akunna who owns a busines centre along Aker Road said she has been doing business along the road for over four years and made no apprciable progress due to the deplorable state of the road.

She said the state of the road has really affected her business and customers find it difficult to come around to purchase goods

Mrs. Akunna while appreciating the Governor for his good work prayed for God’s protection and continued grace to forge ahead.

Another respondent, Mr. Paul Ndonuvia,  who confirmed to our reporter that he has been living in the area for over 16years and in all these years the road has been in a deplorable state deaclared: “We thank God that the governor has finally attended to our plight. “Thank God our governor has come to fix the road, we are very happy, thank you”.

Mr. Ndonuvia further said the contractors so far are trying their best despite the change in weather and they are doing a very technical job which he feels suites the road.

Mrs. Chinalu Ngozi who said she had lived in the area for 12years, also commended the governor for the rehabilitation of the road as back then people questioned their choice, why they decided to stay in a place as this.

In her words “As the rains increase we will no longer experince flood in the area, we can go out and come in smoothly without fear of vehicle parts being damaged. Than you. Mr Projects, we love you”.

Mr. Osanebi Vincent, who says he is a landlord in the area, noted that words cannot express how grateful he is regarding the reconstruction of the Aker Road.

According to him: “For someone who has stayed in the area for over 12years and has watched people move out of their compounds due to the poor state of the road, I decided to  stay back because of children school and business, but today the situation is no longer same as the Governor has put smiles on our faces, we are thankful for that”.

The residents while expressing gratitude for the road rehabilitation, said they wish that other issues will also be addressed such as the poor electricity in the area and completion of the Trans-Kalabari link road.
