Guest House Risks Closure Over Lodger’s Death

A guest house along Elechi street Mile 3 in Diobu axis of Port Harcourt where a lady was found dead last week Thursday may be closed down by the Rivers State Government, National Network gathered.

We learned that the guest house did not follow check in guideline for visitors and guests as stipulated by Rivers State Government before the deceased lady and the man who came with her was booked in.

Our source disclosed that the photocopy of Identity cards of the guests were not taken by the hotel neither did the hotel take their phone numbers or names before the guests checked in.

We gathered that the man who is at large had lodged the girl in the guest house on ‘short time’ and left unnoticed after he allegedly killed the girl.

We gathered that the Staff in the guest house went an knocked at the door of the room after the time for the ‘short time’ have elapsed.

Sources informed National Network that the Staff forced the door open when nobody responded .

The source disclosed that four guests who lodged in the hotel were detained at Nkpolu Divisional Police headquarters after the matter was reported to the station.

We learned that the owner of the guest house has been invited by the Police for questioning.

The spokesperson of Rivers State Police command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Nnamdi Omoni confirmed the incident in a text message to our reporter and added that investigation is ongoing.

Residents of the area confirmed the incident to our reporter.

As at press time, our reporter gathered that the matter has been transferred to homicide division in State Criminal Investigation Department(SCID).

It would be recalled that over 9 girls were killed in hotel/guest house in Rivers State last year.
