Apara Monarch’s COVID-19 Taskforce Records Outstanding Success

Rumuigbo COVID-19 Compliance Order Taskforce set up by the monarch of Apara Kingdom, HRM, Eze Chike Amadi Worlu Wodo has recorded remarkable successes.

Eze Amadi had set up the taskforce immediately after the traditional rulers’ meeting with Governor Wike on Tuesday, May 5, 2020.

The Governor had directed them to set up Taskforces in their domains to enforce the sit-at-home order by the State government.

The Apara Monarch’s COVID-19 Taskforce, in a strategic crime bursting operation on Thursday, May 7, apprehended a trailer load of cattles and persons at Rumuigbo junction in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

According to information, the trailer with its human cargo and animals was sent from Adamawa by a high profile Alhaji in a move that tender to mess up the order on closure of borders in the fight against the spread of the coronavirus in the state.

Immediately the trailer and its occupants were apprehended, the Rumuigbo COVID-19 Taskforce alerted the authorities who promptly swung into action and nabbed them.

A day after it recorded this huge success, the Taskforce again apprehended another truck with human cargo and animals from the North.

A member of the Taskforce, Okechukwu Chukwu said they had apprehended other vehicles and people that contravened the lockdown order by the Rivers State Government.

The taskforce had also gone to the nooks and crannies of Rumuigbo to see if anybody would open stores.

Earlier, according to Okechukwu, they had gone round with megaphones sensitizing residents on the need to obey the sit-at-home order. The result he said, was total compliance with the order.

Journalists who visited Rumuigbo on Friday, May 8,were aghast by the loneliness of the streets, Rumuigbo was like a grave yard. Not a single soul was found on the streets/roads.  All shops were closed. The journalists could not see any stores to buy water to drink.

The compliance with the order was almost one hundred per cent.

HRM, Eze Chike Amadi Worlu Wodo who inaugurated the taskforce said he was satisfied with what they had achieved so far.

He said Apara Kingdom was determined to see that the governor’s directive was complied with.

Already, Governor Wike and the Obio/Akpor Chairman, Solomon Eke have commended Rumuigbo people for being in the fore-front of the fight against COVID-19.
