Rukpakwadima Monarch Pledges Peaceful Co-existence
…Set To Review Companies/Community GMOU
The newly coronated Nyenweli of Rukpakwadima Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Chief Stanley Ichegbu has promised that peace and security in the area would be given top priority throughout his reign.
The monarch who made the promise at the weekend shortly after his coronation as the Chief of Rukpakwadima Community assured that his reign will ensure peaceful co-existence among indigenes and residents in the community.
Ichegbu who was crowned the Rukpakwadima II, described peace as sine qua non and added that since Governor Nyesom Wike has made the state safe, he would also complement the governor’s effort by making his domain peaceful, safe and secured.
“Throughout my reign as the paramount ruler of this community, I want to assure my people that I will not do evil or undermine the progress of this community. In fact, I want to say that as the king of this community, if I do good, good things will follow me but if I do bad, bad things will follow me”, the monarch declared.
While scoring Governor Wike high in the scheme of overall development of the state, Chief Ichegbu gave assurance that he will not let the community down, stressing on the need to impact positively on the lives on members of the community.
The retired civil servant revealed that he would, within the first one hundred days of his reign brainstorm with the youths on ways to tackle unemployment in the area.
His words: “Given that we have more than 90 companies and the high unemployment rate at Rukpakwadima Community, one of the first things I will do within my first 100 days on the throne would be to invite all the youths and hold a round table discussion with them on how to reduce unemployment”.
The monarch further hinted that plans are under way to review the GMOU they have with some companies operating in the area even as he also expressed dissatisfaction with the level of educational attainment among the people of his domain.
According to him, another top priority in his agenda is to set up Educational Trust Fund to cater for the indigent pupils and students in his domain.
Speaking at the event, the Secretary of the Planning Committee, Barrister Promise Ichegbu said he was happy over the success of the event despite the daunting financial challenge encountered during the planning of the event.
He urged every member of the community to give the monarch total and unflinching support to enable him succeed.
Also speaking, a member of the Pillar of Association in the community, Elder Friday Ekekwe said the enthronement of Chief Ichegbu would fast-track development in the community, describing the monarch as a selfless leader who has the potential and charisma to advance the cause of the community.
He assured that members of his association would stand by the king and give him the needed support to succeed.
The coronation ceremony was performed by the Nyenweli of Rumuodomaya Town, HRH, Eze Bright Akpohonu, at the event that was attended by a select few in compliance with the social distancing directive of the state government following the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
