The remains of Late Princess (Mrs) Ureh Ahwoma Emenike Ogidi daughter of His Eminence, Sir (Dr) Chukumela Nnam Obi II (OON, DSSRS, AP, JP), Oba (Eze-ogba) of Ogbaland who died on Monday 22nd June 2020 was on Friday 24th July 2020 committed to mother Earth.
The 57 years old Princess, wife of a retired Naval Officer now a traditional ruler, HRH, Eze Gift Emenike Ogidi, the Eze Eluo-hna Obakata (Omoku) of Ogbaland was laid to rest at her husband’s country home Omoku with tears flowing uncontrollable from both old and young when her body was brought out for interment.
In his homely, the Vicar in charge of St. Michael’s Anglican Church Omoku, Rev Canon Benjamin Ekpeye noted that Life is like a vapor which appears for a while and seems no more as according to him, Princess Ureh has completed her assignment on earth and gone back to be with her creator and that nobody can question Almighty God why he has chosen to call her home now for he gives and take.
Rev. Canon Benjamin Ekpeye whose message was ably delivered by the curate of the Church, Rev Innocent Osi Commiserated with the bereaved families, the church, friends and associates of the deceased and prayed God to give them the courage to bear the loss and also grant the soul of the departed Princess eternal rest.
In his brief Tribute, the widower, HRH, Eze Gift Emenike Ogidi, the Eze Eluohna Obakata (Omoku)of Ogbaland described his Late wife as his mother, confident and bosom friend but thanked Almighty God for the good life she lived before her departure and thanked his Father in-law the Oba of Ogbaland and his Family, the Church, Traditional Rulers and Chiefs, friends and Well Wishers for their Prayers, Moral and Financial Supports Since his Wife took ill and till the day she succumbed to the cold hands of death.
A statement by the Media Aide to the Oba of Ogbaland, Prince Charles Amadike-Otoboh, JP (Mmboh KriKri) stated that while the burial ceremony of the Late Princess was going on in her husband compound and church, her father, His Eminence, the Oba (Eze-Ogba) of Ogbaland was busy at the palace receiving dignitaries from far and near who came to commiserate with him because Ogba tradition demands that parents do not witness the burial ceremony of his/her child.
The Late Princess Ureh Ogidi is survived by her parents, husband, five sons, daughters in-law, grand children, brothers and sisters and a host of other relations.
The burial Ceremony was attended by people from all walks of life including Serving and Retired Military and Police Officers, Traditional Rulers and Chief Senior Government Officials.
