Banigo Charges Youths To Be Innovative

Rivers State Deputy Governor Dr. Mrs. Ipalibo Harry Banigo has advised young people in the State to think outside the box and aspire to turn problems around them into marketable solutions that could become tomorrow’s corporations and unicorns.

Dr. Banigo stated this while declaring open the New Heaven Innovation Hub at the New Heaven Baptist Church, Rumuibekwe Housing Estate Port Harcourt on Tuesday 4th August, 2020.

Represented by the Senior Special Assistant on General Duties in the Office of the Deputy Governor Bmrs inegogo Fubara, Dr. Banigo said the Covid 19 Pandemic has changed the way of doing things globally, noting that despite the difficulties that may arise as a result of the pandemic, young people must key in and look out for opportunities to proffer solutions.

Dr. Banigo who expressed her passion to help young people succeed said for the past 14 years she has continued to mentor and counsel youths, rape victims, sexual abuse victims, drug abuse victims through a Non-Governmental Organisation, the Caywood Brown Foundation, empowering them with skills to become useful citizens.

The Deputy Governor who expressed the need for youths to be technologically compliant commended the New Heaven Baptist Church for its commitment to youth development, is partnering with Nettopps to set up the Rivers of Unicorn which is a virtual accelerator that supports innovative ideas and start-ups in underserved communities, and sets them on a path to exponential growth.

In his welcome address the Resident Pastor of the New Heaven Baptist Church, Pastor Benjamin Oghenekaro said the plan of the church is to reach out to young people in different ways in order to add value to them and see how the church can be a blessing to the Rivers people while thanking the Deputy Governor for her support.

Also Speaking the C E O of Netopps Bereni Fiberesima who said Rivers of Unicorn would partner with established creative community spaces, disclosed that the New Heaven Innovation Hub is the first cohort in the network.
