One of the Special Advisers to the Rivers State Governor, Prince Hon. (Barr.) Emmanuel Iheanyi Utchay (JP), has been installed the Paramount Ruler of Elimgbu Town in Obio/Akpor LGA of Rivers State. The installation ceremony held at Elimgbu town over the weekend.
The Elimgbu Council of Chiefs and Owhor holders in conjunction with Oro- Esara Council of Chiefs and indeed the entire people of Elimgbo town, Oro-Esara Kingdom were in agreement for the choice of the candidate, which took place at Obiri Eli Elimgbu and Eze Esara palace. Performing the chieftaincy ceremony, HRH, Eze (Dr) J. A. Utchay (JP), Nyerisi Mbam, Oro-Esara, Esara Kingdom and father of the candidate charged him to maintain the leadership qualities and services to humanity which stood him out for recognition for the throne.
The centenarian monarch who had actually combined the chieftaincy titles said having served his people meritoriously for this long on the throne, it was time to relinquish the lesser chieftaincy title of “Eze Rugwu III to his worthy son who has understudied him for some time and found suitable for the throne which is hereditary.
The ceremony witnessed many people from far and near especially fellow traditional rulers in the state and his political allies in the government circle.
In their goodwill messages, Chief (Hon) Sylverline Okocha aka Ada Esara and Hon Sydney Ogele, Honourable Councillor representing Elimgbu Ward I in Obio/Akpor Legislative Assembly in their separate remarks praised the celebrant not only for his magnanimity but for his love to her people.
They further disclosed that having worked under the tutelage of his father for the past years, Eze Emma Utchay will make a good traditional leader.
“With his tested and trusted leadership, the Elimgbu community will no doubt witness tremendous development,” they said.
They used the opportunity to appeal for the support and cooperation of the villagers in the interest of all.
Highlights of the event was cutting of the installation cake by the young chief surrounded by his neuclar family members.
There was also traditional visits and gifts from family members and well-wishers as well as traditional musical display by the youths of the community.
The event was constantly being punctuated by the Master of ceremony (M/C) who was reminding guests on the importance of wearing their face masks as gate pass as well as being mindful of exceeding the number of guests approval by government at any particular time as they were being forcefully discharged intermittently for reinforcement.
The celebrant in his remark thanked everybody that found time to felicitate with them and promised not to betray the confidence reposed in him in the discharge of his duties.
