Two Reported Dead In Ogoni Community Gang War
Two persons are reported dead in Kpong Community in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State following an invasion last Sunday by gunmen suspected to be cultists.
We learned that the killing may not be unconnected to the supremacy battle between suspected Iceland and Deygbam cult groups in the area.
Community sources told our reporter that the suspected cultists invaded the community at about 9:00pm that fateful day and went to the house of a suspected leader of a rival cult group where two persons were reportedly shot dead.
The source disclosed that the gang members shot sporadically for at least thirty minutes before the arrival of policemen led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Bori Police Division, SP Bako which made them flee the community.
The spokesperson of Rivers State Police Command, SP Nnamdi Omoni was yet to respond to text messages sent to his mobile phone by our reporter on inquiry into the incident.
At press time, we learned that calm had returned to the community.
It would be recalled that the Rivers State Police Command had earlier warned remnants of cultists in Ogoni communities to surrender or face justice after the arrest and death of most wanted kidnapper, murderer and cultist, Honest Diigbara aka ‘Boboski’.
