Ohanaeze Chieftain Quits Bachelorhood, Weds Heartthrob

The Organizing Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Rivers State branch, Comrade Maurice Ugochukwu Okparahas bade goodbye to bachelorhood following the solemnization of holy matrimony with his heartthrob, former Miss Diseph Benjamin at a ceremony which held a fortnight ago at the Immaculate Heart Catholic Parish along Ekwe Street, Diobu In Port Harcourt.

The Imo State born, Ohanaeze chieftain had earlier travelled to Diseph’s hometown, Okana Abua Central in Abua/Odual Local Government of Rivers State, where the traditional marriage rite was performed in their honour.

For Maurice and Diseph, these occasions were dream come true as according to them, they had waited patiently and earnestly hoped for that divinely-ordained day.

“We were in courtship for seven years.  It began way back at the high institution in 2013 at IAUOE where I went for coronation as one of the national officers of National Association of Igbo Students.  Just like that, our chemistry struck, we became friends and fell in love with each other”, Maurice told National Network reporter in Port Harcourt.

“The best thing I have ever done in my life is getting married to Diseph.  She’s the dream of everyman out there looking for a good and godly woman.

“My advice to every single guy and lady is to stand by one another, no matter the circumstance.  Stop looking for already-made man or woman. Look out for the potential in the other”, he counseled.

Maurice’s only snag in both ceremonies stemmed from the ill-timed Covid-19 pandemic which compelled a strict social distance compliance.

“We had to limit attendance both at the church wedding and traditional marriage strictly on invitation.  This is very regrettable because it punctured the big plans by Ohanaeze officials from all over the country to attend my wedding enmasse.  But, in all things we give glory to God andthank Him for the success of the occasion.  We are happily married and only God made it possible”, he enthused.

After a momentary recluse from the nuptial cloud, Maurice switched into activism, disclosing plans to deliver on an important project of ensuring the Presidency goes to a South Easterner, come 2023.

He said with his marriage successfully executed, attention would now be focused known as SEFORP, an acronym for South East For President (SEFORP).

“I serve as the state Youth Leader of SEFORP. It is a known partisan body and all we are doing in Rivers State is to drum support for a South Eastern President of Nigeria in 2023.

“We successfully staged a rally on November 11, 2020 moving through major streets in Port Harcourt. We distributed flyers and the rally turned out to be a spectacular and entertaining road show that attracted huge audience”, he said, adding that more rallies have been lined up for the coming weeks.
