Gombe Speaker, Majority Leader Impeached
Abubakar Ibrahim Kurba, the speaker of Gombe House of Assembly, has been impeached by the state lawmakers in an event that has thrown the parliament into turmoil.
According to reports, Kurba was given a marching order during a sitting following a motion by a former deputy speaker who was impeached earlier this year, Shuaibu Adamu.
In the same vein, the majority leader and chief whip of the state assembly were also sacked by Gombe lawmakers.
Report says that 16 out of the 24 members of the assembly led by the former deputy speaker Adamu signed the letter to that effect.
Meanwhile, Abubakar Muhammad Luggerewo has been announced as the new speaker of the house while Yarima Gaule from Kaltungo East was announced as the new majority leader following the successful removal of Samuel Markus Markwina.
