A Customary Court sitting in Mapo, Ibadan has dissolved a 15-year-old marriage between a mother of two, Olubunmi Faseyitan, and her husband, Kolawole, over witchcraft suspicion.
Presiding over the matter, the President of the court, Chief Ademola Odunade, dissolved the marriage after the accused admitted that she bewitched the husband in order for him to be loyal to her only.
In her words, “I asked a witch doctor to ”tie my husband spiritually to milk him dry. I never wished death on my husband.
“All I wanted was to have him in bondage and make him sick until he serves his purpose. I only told the witch doctor so that people would be convinced that his second wife was responsible for the calamity that befell him”.
Delivering judgment, The president of the court advised men and women intending to get married to seek God’s approval in their relationship before forging ahead with the marriage.
He however dissolved the union in the interest of peace.
Custody of the children was granted to Faseyitan while Mr Kolawale was instructed to pay the sum of N6,000 monthly to his ex wife for the children’s upkeep.
Earlier, Kolawole, a factory worker after tendering a recorded conversation between the wife and the alleged witch doctor to the court prayed for the dissolution of his marriage on grounds that his wife was into black magic.
”I did everything possible to please her. But it was not enough. I abandoned the home to her she confessed to me,” he said.
