Rotary Club Of Mgbuoba, Peace Corps Reach Out To School

The Rotary Club of Mgbuoba and  Rotaract Club and  Peace Corps of Nigeria have reached out to the Community Secondary School, Apara in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State as part of their corporate social responsibility.

The organizations recently organized a lecture for students on the need to shun social vices in society and face their studies as the leaders of tomorrow.

The Commander, Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN), Rivers State, Patriot Michael Obiorah lectured the students on the need to shun violence, cultism, kidnapping and rape.

“These vices are not only distraction to your focus but could terminate one’s life if care is not taken”, he said.

He also admonished them to concentrate on their studies and focus on how to emulate their role models in the society.

The principal of the school, Dr. Napoleon Nwogu thanked the Rotary Club of Mgbuoba and the Peace Corps of Nigeria for their interest in the school and prayed for God to replenish their pockets for the humanitarian service they are rendering.

He informed his guests that the school usually face challenges especially over flooding which could soon be a thing of the past as their cries has reached the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Abuja which had eqqqqqually promised to do something about the ugly situation this time around.  

However, the President Elect of the Rotary Club of Mgbuoba, Mrs. Eberechi Eke of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Port Harcourt equally promised to renovate the school hall for them for a start.

She also disclosed that nothing is too big to sacrifice for the students who are leaders of tomorrow to achieve their God-given destiny, assuring that in their midst are various kinds of professionals.

Highlights of the event was the spelling exercise by the students as well as debating competition over the merits and demerits of the societal total lockdown as a result of the coronavirus pandemic by the school prefects. 

A branded exercise book of the Rotary Club was distributed to each of the students who participated in the lecture.
