Man Accused Of Defiling, Impregnating 12yr-Old Girl Transferred To Police Hqrs.
One Henry said to be in his early thirties arrested last week by Police Officers attached to Rumupeirikom (Kala) Divisional Police headquarters, Port Harcourt for allegedly defiling and impregnating a twelve-year-old girl, has been transferred to the Human Rights desk at Headquarters of the Rivers State Police Command, Moscow road.
A source informed our reporter that the suspect was transferred for proper and detailed investigation into the incident with a view to arraigning him in court if found culpable in the course of investigation.
Our source disclosed that Henry who was initially detained at Rumupeirikom (Kala) Divisional Police headquarters was alleged to have defiled the 12-year-old girl who is a house help to his neighbour in their compound at Rumupeirikom, Port Harcourt, sometime in March 2021.
The guardian of the twelve-year-old girl who noticed that the girl was pregnant interrogated the victim and upon interrogation, she revealed that Henry allegedly defiled her and is also responsible for the pregnancy.
The spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Nnamdi Omoni, when contacted by our reporter confirmed the incident but did not give details.
In a similar incident, One Mr Prince said to be 22 years of age and another male suspect aged 33 both from Akwa Ibom State were arrested last week and detained at Elekahia Divisional Police Headquarters, Port Harcourt, for allegedly attempting to defile a 16 year old female neighbour when she was concluding her prayer and fasting programme at their compound in Mummy B Road, Off Stadium Road, Port Harcourt.
The 16-year-old girl told our reporter, she was inside her house breaking her fast, when one of the suspects, Prince invaded her room and bounced on her in an attempt to defile her while the second male suspect held her 10 year old brother .
The 16 year old girl who hail from Ebonyi State disclosed that the second suspect later came inside the room and threatened her to undress and cooperate with them if she does not want to be killed.
The 16 year old girl said the two male suspects beat her and tore her clothes but she resisted them despite the beating and they fled when they became aware that her younger brother who escaped may have informed other neighbours.
She told our reporter that she informed her Aunt upon her arrival from work in the evening and the Aunt reported the incident to the Police.
As press time, the Police has begun an investigation into the incident.
