Ogbakor Omudioga Condemns Invasion, Murder Of Illustrious Sons
…As Monarch Appeals To Fleeing Villagers To Return Home
The Ogbakor Omudioga clan in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State has condemned the invasion of its clan by unknown gunmen last week where not less than two persons lost their lives while others sustained various degrees of injury.
Rising from its emergency meeting over the weekend, the Ogbakor Omudioga said they are yet to recover from the shock of the unprovoked attack.
According to the interim chairman of the body, Mr. Emmanuel Akpelu “we have been living peacefully for some time now and so there was no known reason for such unwanted attack”.
The body however assured that the community would work in synergy with the security on ground in the community to unravel the remote and immediate cause of the development with a view to bringing the culprits to book and as well prevent future reoccurrence.
Speaking with newsmen at his palace, the heir to the throne of Omodioga clan Paramount Ruler/Nyenweali, Eze (Dr) Sam Ugo Onyeka while condemning the killings described it as dastardly, inhuman and reckless act which shook the foundation of the communities of Omudioga.
He however did not agree to some opinion pool that the attack is cultism or chieftaincy crisis related.
“The community has been relatively peaceful and so it could not have been either of the suggestions”, the monarch said.
He further disclosed that invaders were reportedly from outside the community and immediately disappeared shortly after the attack.
Eze Onyeka informed that the decision making body of the community includes the Omudioga Council of chiefs, the Ohna in council (red cap chiefs) and Ogbakor Omodioga adding that jointly they are handling the challenges.
“Those who fled the community as a result of the invasion should please return home for us to jointly seek for solution to the matter as nobody runs away from his or her shadow”.
He assured the returnees of their safety as the security agents are on top of the matter.
The traditional ruler further advised the villagers as a whole to ensure that they shun rumour mongering or causing more chaos through their action or utterances, hoping that the LG administration would intervene.
It would be recalled that some unknown gunmen stormed the Omudioga Community last week Tuesday, July 27, 2021 killing one Mr. Alexander Iheanachor Umezuruike, chairman of the defunct Omudioga OSPAC and Chief Solomon Wagbara. The development forced the frightened villagers to desert the community for their dear lives.
