Natives Flee Ogoni Communities Over Alleged Killings
Reports available to National Network have it that natives of Kono, Boue and Gwara in Khana local Government Area of Rivers State have deserted their communities following invasion of the area by unknown gunmen last Monday and reported killing of three persons each in the two communities.
We also learnt that the rampaging gunmen invaded Gwara in the morning hours and reportedly shot three persons dead.
Our source further disclosed that gunmen invaded Kono, Boue later in the afternoon and shot three persons dead while many natives fled the community.
The Public Relations Officer of Community Development Community (CDC) of Kono, Boue Nwibakpo Golden in an interview with our reporter continued that three persons were killed in his community while some natives fled the community.
Golden gave the names of the deceased as Barikui Yor-oh, Emmanuel Di and Tornebari Bakpo.
Mr. Golden also suggested that a Police Division be created in the community and rehabilitation of the bad portion of the roads in the area to effectively tackle the incessant attacks by gunmen.
Gunmen had before this time attacked Kono, and other communities in Boue for over three times this year.
The spokesperson of Rivers State Police command, SP Nnamdi Omoni when contacted said such report had not reached his office.
