Ogba Monarch Makes Case For Upgrade Of FCE(T) Omoku To University Status

The immediate past chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Rivers State and currently the Sole Administrator of Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA) High Chief Felix Amaechi Obuah, FFCE(T)OM, JP (aka GO-ROUND) has been described as a man born to rule, as well as a worthy and proud Alumnus of Federal College of Education (Technical), Omoku Rivers State.

The Chairman of the 7th Governing Council of Federal College of Education (Technical), Omoku, Rivers State, Alhaji Aliyu Umaru who stated this when members of the Council paid a courtesy visit on Bro Felix Obuah at his country home at Omoku disclosed that with records available, Go-Round has invested a lot in the College therefore ranks first among all Alumni’s who have supported or assisted the College and appealed to other Alumnus blessed by God not to distance themselves from the College that contributed meaningfully towards what they are today.

The elder statesman commended his host for all he has done for the College so far and told him that the major aspiration of the Governing Council is to see how the institution will be up graded to university status and urged him to use all his connections and goodwill to do that for them.

Responding, Bro Felix Obuah who promised to do all he can to ensure the College moved more forward, expressed happiness over the rapid growth, peace and unity in the College and described the Provost, Dr. Emmanuel Ikenyiri, as a silent achiever, brought by Almighty God to restore the dignity of the institution and appealed to all to support him to enable him succeed in developing the school.

High Chief Felix Obuah who has the following chieftaincy titles, the Mba-Anabra-Agu, Eze Orashi Region, Osaemeri of Ogba and Ikemba Idemili who pledged to personally erect a befitting structure in the institution also promised to contact his friends in Government towards making moves to up-grade FCE(T) Omoku which is very dear to his heart to university status as he will not forget in a hurry what the College has impacted in him.

 He thanked his guests for the visit and used the opportunity to condole with the Chairman of the Governing Council, Alhaji Aliyu Umaru over the death of his wife on 1st January, 2022 and prayed God to comfort him and grant the soul of the departed eternal rest.

The Provost of the College, Sir, Dr. Emmanuel Ikenyiri, KSC, had in his introductory speech introduced Bro Felix Amaechi Obuah aka Go-Round as a successful business man and politician and God special gift to the College whose support, assistance and love to the institutions are uncountable.

According to the highly elated Provost, Bro Felix Obuah who is the pioneer SUG President, first president of the Alumni Association, former Governing Council Member and currently a Fellow of the College thanked him for all he has done for the College but as Oliver twist, they need more from him and his associates to enable the College be upgraded to a university status and the building he will erect will be named after him.

In his vote of thanks, a member of the Governing Council representing Academic Board, Dr. Robbert O. O Iyede who happens to be one of Go-Round’s lecturer while schooling at FCE(T), Omoku noted that (Go-Round) present status was noticed in him during his schooling days because of his humility, generosity, hard work and respect for all and therefore thanked him for the warm reception accorded them and pray Almighty God to guide, protect and lift him up politically for the benefit of all Nigerians and the College in particular.

According to a statement issued by the PRO of the College, members of the Governing Council are Alhaji Aliyu Umaru, Chairman; Dr. Emmanuel Ikenyiri, KSC, Provost/Member; Mr. Aderemi Ogunbanjo, Federal Government Nominee; Mr. Bello Ahmed Gadanya, Federal Government Nominee; Mrs. Grace Iyorhe, Federal Government Nominee; Mr. Afolabi, O.S., Representing Federal Ministry of Education; Dr. Moses Ade Afolabi, Representing National Commission for Colleges of Education; Engr. Goodluck Ikenyiri, MNSE, Representing, Nigerian Society of Engineers; Dr. Ekpa M.M.M., JP, Deputy Provost/Academic Board Representative; Dr. R.O.O Iyede, Representing Academic Board; Mr. Charles Adiela, Representing Alumni Association; while Dr. Godpower Obi Ahiakwo, MNIM is the Registrar/Secretary to Council.
