Report reaching our news desk confirmed a deadly attack on the Publicity Secretary of the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People, MOSOP, Comrade Fegalo Nsuke, in Bori, headquarters of Khana Local Government Area over the weekend.
According to the report, the MOSOP top official was at the time of this report still receiving treatment at a private hospital in Bori, and had soon after the attack, reported the incidence to the police authorities in the area.
Below is the excerpt of the report by the MOSOP spokesman, Comrade Nsuke:
“It has become necessary to brief you on the recent attack on me, which could have taken my life, on the orders of the President of MOSOP, Legborsi Saro Pyagbara.
On Sunday, October 7, 2018 at about 2.00pm, I was at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Yeghe, when I received a call from the chapter leader of Giokoo in Gokana local government area reporting an attack on MOSOP chapter leaders by some boys who claimed they have instructions not to allow a chapter leaders meeting scheduled at the MOSOP secretariat in Bori. at about that time.
Thinking they were prevented by some youths who regularly keep watch over the secretariat, I rushed to the scene.
On getting to the scene, I saw the chapter leader of Bodo, Nnaa Barikor whose phone had been taken by the boys, the chapter leader of Giokoo, Barkor Maxwell Bob, the chapter leader of Bera, Friday Bemah and so many others who have been beaten robed of their belongings including phones and monies.
I could not identify any of the boys so I turned back to ask the chapter leaders to leave. As I was leaving, the hoodlums ran after me, tore my cloth and tried to take my phone. I managed to safeguard my phone and in the process, I was seriously manhandled. As I was being attacked, I saw the NYCOP coordinator of Bori special area, Mr. Bariledum Yaamene running away through the road linking the MOSOP office and the council chairman’s lodge. He is the only one I could identify.
I managed to escape with bare body. My torn clothes was later brought by the cyclist who brought me to the MOSOP office, the same cyclist took me home..
Luckily, on my way home, I saw a member of NYCOP and asked him to help me go to the scene at the MOSOP office and identify my attackers. He traced them to a drinking palour on hospital road, Bori, somewhere close to the police station where he saw them in the company of the financial secretary of MOSOP, Chief Theophilus Dike and the NYCOP coordinator for Bori Special Area, Bariledum Yaamene. He identified the boys who attacked me to include one Amoral and the son of one Mr Ogboaja.
He told me Chief Theophilus Dike was giving them drinks (beer) and was telling them that I was stubborn by writing against Shell and I have chosen not to support Pyagbara’s bid to remain as president of MOSOP. He said they have warned me to stop talking that because of my stubbornness, I am no longer going to be functioning as the spokesperson of MOSOP.
He (my emissary) confronted them and they admitted to him that Pyagbara had instructed them that any one coming for the chapter leaders meeting should be dealt with.
They (my attackers) admitted that Pyagbara had given them the sum of NGN50,000 to execute the job.
A confessional statement taken from Bariledum Yaamene, the kingpin in plotting this attack confirm Pyagbara’s involvement.
A formal complaint has been made to the police.
