High Chief Akaninwo Celebrates 10th Year Anniversary On Throne

It was celebration galore over the weekend at Rumuakaninwo Community,  Oroazi in Rumueme Clan of Obio/Akpor Local Council of Rivers State as High Chief Enyinda Kingsley J.W Akaninwo rolled out the drums to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of his coronation as the family chief of the Akaninwos.

According to the monarch, “I was coronated Eze Olunwocha VI of Rumuakaninwo Community on the 19th April, 2008 and since then I have not wavered”, he declared.

High Chief Akaninwo said he has contributed immensely in deliberations of high caliber issues that has brought peace, unity and progress to the Rumuakaninwo Community in particular and Rumueme in general.

The monarch made it clear that though he is not the one to applaud/appraise himself but he considers himself worthy for a higher position, going by his performance so far.

The elders, youths and women of the Rumuakaninwo family, friends and their well-wishers trooped out in their numbers to be part of the dinning, winning, singing and dancing that paralyzed every other activities in the vicinity.

The visitors actually confessed that the event was first of its kind in recent times as many of the guests slept over for the night in course of the merriments. Both traditional musicians and band stand were on display.

Speaking with newsmen at the sideline of the event, the celebrant lamented that for sometime now, the traditional stools of Rumuakanwo and Rumueme Clan have been vacant and appealed to the authorities to make haste to ensure that they are occupied by the appropriate persons for the progress of the clan.

“It is important for the community and clan to take their rightful positions in the comity of Clans”, he said.

Chief Akaninwo disclosed further that he has concluded plans to launch a skill acquisition programme that will benefit the youths, women, widow and the non indigenes in their midst, adding that it is necessary youths are properly directed to become self-reliant as leaders of tomorrow.

He made it clear that hosting of the event has boosted the confidence of his people and unified them the more to face common challenges confronting them for peace, unity and progress of the community.
