The Association of Retired Senior Military and Para –Military  Officers  of Ogoni –ARMPOO, has urged people of Ogoni ethnic nationality to remain law abiding, even after the general elections. The Coordinator, Rear Admiral Bakpo stated this while interacting with newsmen in his office at Bori recently.

He condemned the unending spate of violence in the area particularly that of Gwara and Kpong communities which led to displacement of indigenes and destruction of both lives and property.

The ARMPOO boss describes as shameful act of bloodletting in the area was telling on the collective integrity of the people and portends serious threat to development in the land both now and in the future.

The Association cautioned Ogoni people not to play into the hands of enemies by accepting selfish overtures of politicians, and advised politicians both within and outside Ogoni land not to incite violence in the area by promoting arts of thuggery, ballot box snatching and kidnapping during the forthcoming general elections.

Rear Admiral John Nicholas Bakpo particularly charged youths of Ogoni to shun cultism, armed robbery, and assassination of people which could scare away investors from the area.

The retired naval boss believes that there are better days ahead for Ogoni youths if the atmosphere is conducive for ARMPOO to partner with credible investors to industrialize Ogoniland.

He however warned that such vices as communal clashes and cult related violence may hinder this massive employment opportunities for the youths and development of Ogoni land by extension.

The Coordinator therefore called on all well meaning Ogoni sons and daughters to collaborate with ARMPOO to end an era of shame and disgrace facing the land.
