I Swear By The Holy Qur’an, Buhari Personally Ordered EFCC To Withdraw From Goje’s N25b Fraud Case – Farooq
Newspaper columnist and a strong critic of the Buhari administration, Farooq Kperogi, PhD, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of personally ordering the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFFC to withdraw from the N25b fraud case against Senate Presidency hopeful Danjuma Goje in a bid to have his anointed candidate Ahmed Lawan emerge as a consensus candidate.
Senator Danjuma Goje, (APC-Gombe Central), had stepped down from the race on Friday, citing as an elder statesman in the Senate for a long time, he was ready to appreciate leadership coming from the party elders.
But following the intimidate withdraw from the fraud case by the country’s anti-graft agency, many observers had alleged that the presidency had traded the corruption case in order to have their way as regards the leadership of the 9th Senate.
Reacting on Saturday, Farooq who swore by the Holy Qur’an has revealed that an insider told him it was on the express orders of the president that the EFCC withdrew from the case.
The EFCC had withdrawn from a case of financial misappropriation preferred against Senator, explaining it had handed over the prosecution of the case to the Attorney general of the federation.
“I’ve just learned from someone who witnessed Danjuma Goje’s meeting with Buhari in Aso Rock that it was Buhari who PERSONALLY gave orders that Goje’s N25b fraud case be withdrawn. It was d condition Goje gave Buhari for supporting Ahmed Lawan for Senate Pres. I swear by the Holy Qur’an that this was what actually happened. Buhari is himself a fraudster and has always been, so this didn’t come to me as a surprise. I just pity the hordes of headless idiots who still think this old, duplicitous rogue embodies “integrity.” Farooq wrote on Twitter.
