NBTE Set To Accredit ND/HND Courses At Capt. Elechi Amadi Polytechnic

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), has embarked on resources inspection of the Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, located at Rumuola in Port Harcourt, being part of the processes leading up to the accreditation of over fourteen courses in the institution.

The accreditation team, which arrived last week, stated while on resources inspection, that the management and staff of the polytechnic needed to be abreast of the modalities of the programme.

At a plenary session held at the polytechnic’s main auditorium,  leader of the NBTE accreditation team from Kaduna and Director Polytechnic programmes, Malam Isa Isgogo, informed that the team was on ground to inspect programmes

being run by the polytechnic with the sole aim of helping their growth and sustenance.

 He charged the team members on the need for diligence without compromise in the discharge of their responsibilities, while demanding of them the need to work closely with the various  heads of department.

The leader of the team said that the task ahead of the accreditation team was to help ensure growth, sustenance and development of courses available in the institution and not to tamper  with any of them.

Malam, Isgogo called for the cooperation of the polytechnic staff to enable the team carry out its responsibilities. He commended

the Rector for according the accreditation panel a warm reception.

In his address, Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Samuel Kalagbor, appealed to the team to consider the institution as one just coming up. He expressed his optimism that the staff and management of the institution will give necessary cooperation, against the backdrop of the expectation of such visit about three years ago when the school had wanted to invite the NBTE but for the rainstorm which wrecked destruction  on the institution.

National Network gathered  that about 14 courses in the National Diploma and the Higher National Diploma had been listed for accreditation by the NBTE.
