Elioparanwo CDC Chair Lauds Wike’s Free Education Programme

The Community Development Committee (CDC) Chairman of Elioparanwo Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Mr. Tony Ovunda has commended Governor Nyesom Wike over his declaration of free education at primary and secondary schools in the State.

Mr. Ovunda said the gesture could not have come at a better time than now when according to him; most parents are grappling with the harsh economic situation in the country.

The CDC Chairman who spoke to National Network at his office in Elioparanwo at the weekend, emphasized that posterity would celebrate the State Chief Executive as he has once again, etched his name on the great side of history.

“You know education is the bedrock of any society, so when a leader makes a policy that would promote education at the foundational stage as Governor Wike had just done, you know posterity would forever celebrate him”, he said.

Ovunda, who is popularly called ‘Elioparanwo One’ by admirers, also praised Governor Wike over moves to sanitize private schools in the State.

He said the call for all private schools to reapply for fresh approval is a welcome development but urged the committee set up by the government to do a thorough job aimed at standardizing the system.

“Private schools as a business enterprise have become a carry-go thing.  They say that jack of all trade is master of none.  How do we explain a situation where one teacher is engaged to teach over sixty to seventy percent of all subjects in the school?  Let’s give them all the support needed to sanitize the system”, he said.

The Elioparanwo Community leader also used the opportunity to congratulate Governor Wike on his reelection for a second term, while appealing for the revamping of internal roads in the community to enhance free flow of human and vehicular movement in the area.
