Komkom Community Petitions RSHA Over Fire Disaster
The people of komkom community has petitioned Rivers State House of Assembly over neglect of the community by Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), the owners of the exploded pipelines.
In the petition presented to the House through the member representing Oyibo Constituency in the House Hon. Promise Nwankwo, the people expressed displeasure that NNPC has not done anything to alleviate the effects of the exploded pipelines on the community and it’s residents.
They also blamed them for failing to convene a meeting with the traditional Rulers and relevant stakeholders despite the several lives lost and the huge damage done to their community as result of fire explosion from their facility.
Meanwhile, the House has constituted its Rules and Business committee as well as the House Services committee.
Announcing the formation of the committees, Speaker Ikuinyi Owaji Ibani said the Rules and Business committees will have the Majority Leader, Mr. Martin Amaewhule as chairman, while Mr. Solomon Sokolo, Sam Ogeh, Smart Adoki and Lolo Opuende, will serve as members.
Similarly, the Speaker also announced that the House Services Committee will be headed by the member representing Port Harcourt Constituency three at the Assembly, Mr. Azeru Opara.
In another development, the debate on the report of the Adhoc committee set up to investigate the pirate attacks on the Bille passenger boat, with four recommendations which was presented by Mr. Dumle Maol, the committee Chairman has been deferred to a later date.
