APC Can’t Win In Akwa Ibom –  Dr. Inam

As the 2019 general elections draw near, a foremost political leader and a PDP chieftain, Obong Dr. Inam James Inam has disclosed facts why the APC cannot win elections in the state, especially the office of the Governor.

Inam, a founding member of the PDP in the state and the managing director of the popular Ibom Hospital, allayed fears arising from some quarters that the APC is taking over the state.

”With the impressive performance of the governor, coupled with the formidable and functional structure of the PDP, the APC is very far from winning the elections. They don’t have the capacity to win elections in the state. The few people you see there are either aggrieved PDP members, who have not been able to secure their personal interests or those who go to beg for NDDC contracts.

Don’t forget the PDP has three hundred and twenty nine [329] councilors, supervisors and other appointees across the 329 Local Government areas. Let us not forget that the PDP has a well constituted executive council, which cuts across the length and breadth of the state. The PDP also has almost 500 aides to the Governor, politicians, who have families, friends and supporters. The PDP also has over twenty among the 26 members of the state house of Assembly and a large coast of fanatical supporters across the state. Elections are not won on the pages of the Newspapers, beautiful billboards or propaganda, but through genuine public support, and functional structure of the party. So, as someone who has been in this business for decades and has paid his dues, I laugh when I hear neophytes and ill-informed people analyse politics from the bedrooms and mislead children.”

He advised AkwaIbom youths to shun thuggry and resist attempts by those he described as political capitalists, to be misled into the labbrynth of political misadventure, even as he solicited continued support for PDP and particularly the 2nd term bid of Governor Udom Emmanuel, whom he described as his ”brother”.
