Royal Father Enjoins Muslims In Rivers To Lead Peaceful Life

A traditional ruler has advised Muslims in Rivers State to live in peace and avoid temptation to make trouble.

His Royal Highness, Eze Owabie Tobin, who gave the advice said Muslims in Rivers State need to live in peace and avoid conflict of interest with the state government or people of the state.

The advice followed allegation by Muslims in the state that the state government allegedly destroyed a mosque in Rainbow Town in Trans-Amadi Industrial Layout in Port-Harcourt City Local Government Area of the state.

His Royal Highness, Eze Tobin, Eze Onumini I of Mgbundukwu Community in Mile I and II, Diobu in Port-Harcourt City Local Government Area of Rivers State said the governor of the state, Chief Nyesom Wike, does not discriminate but treats Muslims and Christians in the state the same.

He said: “Governor Nyesom Wike did not destroy any mosque or send anybody to destroy any mosque, and he said it and I believe him because he’s truthful. His mind is also clean and he knows he needs indigenes and non-indigenes, Christians and Muslims in the state to live and do business in the state. He will never be against anybody. So, Muslims should live in peace in Rivers State. I want to tell them to be peaceful in the state”.

The traditional ruler appealed to Muslims and Christians in the state to see each other as one and be united.

He said the alleged demolition of a mosque in the state should not lead to any destruction of churches in the North nor lead to attacks on Christians in the northern part of the country.

Eze Tobin, quoting Governor Wike said the state government did not destroy any mosque because there was no mosque on ground at the site in question saying that the government is not against Muslims in Rivers State.

He said the truth will prevail in the alleged demolition of a mosque by the Rivers State Government saying that three things: the sun, the moon and the truth cannot be hidden.

Eze Tobin said: “The truth will prevail. The truth will show that Wike did not destroy any mosque and Wike has come out to say that he did not destroy any mosque. If people take time to investigate, they will find that Governor Nyesom Wike did not destroy any mosque”.

He said Muslims and Christians are one and serve one God saying that they should be united in practice of their religion.

His Royal Highness Eze Tobin said: “Christians and Muslims are one people even though we have two religions in Nigeria. Religion should not make us to kill ourselves because we are serving one God. We should be united and not cause trouble or fight over this issue”.

He said Governor Wike has interest of the state at heart and is working for people of the state whether Christians or Muslims, saying that he should be praised.

It will be recalled that Muslims in Rivers State recently alleged that the Rivers State government destroyed their mosque in Trans-Amadi area, but the State Chief Executive, Nyesom Wike, said there was no mosque on ground at the site where they said a mosque was allegedly destroyed.
