Igwuruta Chieftaincy Tussle Ends, 25yrs After

…As Contenders Embrace Peace Pledges To Work Together

The contenders of the Igwuruta chieftaincy stool in Ikwerre Local Government Area in Rivers State have decided to sheath their swords and support the incumbent, HRH, Eze (Prof) Samuel N. Nweke in the interest of the community.

Speaking with newsmen at Igwunita over the weekend at the palace of the paramount Ruler/Nyenweli Igwuruta HRH, Eze (Prof.) Samuel N. Nweke, the initiator of the peace effort and Acting Nyechiali of Omueke, Chief Kirian Olocha said everybody is happy at the development as the community has wasted precious time and resources in the litigations which he noted has prevented good things from coming into the community.

Chief Olocha disclosed how he was confronted by the holy spirit in a trance which urged him to intervene in the needless matter.

“I started after praying for further direction to consult  Chief Damian Weje and Chief Augustine Nwachukwu who are the pointmen of late HRH, Eze Honey Orlu of Igwuruta cabinet”.

According to him, “It was when I saw green the light of success that I informed the paramount ruler of my divine mission. He accepted and approved three of his cabinet members to join me in further meetings with the opponent which eventually sealed the assignment.”

Chief Olocha said eventually a joint peace committee was raised to cement the agreement reached and documents were signed by both parties as to the peace agreement.

He stated that part of the agreement was for challengers of the stool to withdraw all impending cases relating to the courts as well as apology rendered to the Royal Highness which will be followed by payment of imposed fines on offenders.

The cabinet members of past late paramount rulers of Igwuruta, Eze B. W. Olocha and Honey Orlu which had been in disarray were reconciled into that of Eze (Prof.) S. N. Nweke who had been recognized by the state government.

The enlarged council of chiefs were united, wine and dine together celebrating God’s faithfulness.

Chief Olocha used the opportunity to express the peoples gratitude and support for HRH, Eze (Prof.) S. N. Nweke’s magnanimity in accepting the challengers without any condition, adding that by that singular action, God is set to restore the lost glory of Igwuruta.

He equally pledged the total support and cooperation of the citizenry to move the community forward.

On the COVID-19 pandemic, Chief Olocha said he does not believe that the disease exit, pointing out that even if it does, the pandemic does not have power over the poor black African persons because of what they eat and the hard work they do.

While commending governor Wike on his proactive measures against the spread of the disease in Rivers State, Chief Olocha urged him to relax the lockdown order as according to him many poor families who live from hand to mouth in the society are dying of hunger, while majority few feed fat on the so called palliatives of the government”.

Chief Olocha who was a member of a group under the aegis of Ikwerre chiefs and elders which campaigned vigorously throughout the four(4) Ikwerre Local Government Council Areas  of the state for the emergence of Governor Nyesom Wike said most of them in that group are regreting their involvement  in that movement as uptill now nobody in government has bordered to look their way again in inform of appreciation despite their sacrifices.

“There is nothing wrong if the governor, our son and brother extend contracts and supplies to us or even raw cash through the chairmen of the group which has been broken down to Ikwerre, Emohua, Obio/Akpor and Port Harcourt Local Government Areas,” he declared.
