Peace Corps Patron Advises Leaders To Encourage Youths

One of the patrons of the Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN), Rivers State Command, Amb. King Darlington Toju Ebido, Eze Sarima I of Warri, Delta State has advised Nigerian Leaders to have patience with the youths and rather encourage them in life to realize their destiny.

He gave the advice over the weekend in Port Harcourt when he paid a courtesy visit to the Peace Corps of Nigeria, Rivers State Command Office at Eliozu in Obio/Akpor LGA of Rivers State.

According to him, “the youths who are the leaders of tomorrow and need to be guided and encouraged to be useful citizen rather than allowing them to wander into the temptation of crime and criminality. He added that even hunger and illness can lure them into criminality.

The youthful Eze Ebido who is popularly known as “the King of the boys” said due to his peaceful disposition, that is the reason he identified with the Peace Corps of Nigeria.

He said, “again I am partnering with the Paramilitary Group because of their peace Ideology as well as their interest in ensuring that Nigerian youths are encouraged and empowered to be useful citizens.”

Though King Ebido is not a politician and would not want to be dragged into discussing politics either, he advised politicians to be focused and committed to the task of improving the peoples welfare and as well be devouted to their responsibility of protecting lives and property which they swore on oath to carry out diligently.

He argued that all that the citizens owed the political leaders is to support, obey and cooperate with them in order for them to achieve set goals of delivering the dividends of democracy.

He used the opportunity to warned that the coronavirus pandemic disease that is ravaging the world over is real and appeal to everyone to obey all the precautionary measures dished out by the government in order for them to stay alive.

He commended the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for his concerted effort in fighting the spread of the disease including the locking down strategy, praying for divine intervention at this point.

King Ebido also commended the Peace Corps of Nigeria, Rivers State command for all its support to the state government especially during this COVID-19 fight including monitoring compliance to government directives as well as manning the check points, appealing that the organization needs every encouragement as they complement other security operatives to maintain peace and order in the State.

In his response, the Rivers State Commandant of the Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN), Patriot Michael Obiora, thanked their patron for finding time to visit the organization.

He maintained that they were attracted to Chief Ebido due to his peaceful disposition and love for the growth of the youths.

“Our patron is a self made man who loves touching peoples’ lives through his philanthropic outreach,” he stated.

Dr. Obiora further disclosed that King Ebido is described by many as a philanthropist per excellence within his environment having awarded scholarships and skill acquisitions to many youths in the society.

He further disclosed that Eze Ebido was among the public spirited individuals who recently distributed palliatives to the widows and the vulnerable in Rumuadaolu community Obio/Akpor LGA to cushion the effect of the COVID-19 lockdown in the State.

Highlight of the visit was the inspection of a special parade by the monarch mounted by a detachment of the Peace Corps of Nigeria.
