A member of vigilante group that secures Ovim/Azikiwe to Ojoto/Azikiwe Mile 2 Diobu Port Harcourt, popularly known as ‘Bebe’ and another male suspect have been arrested for allegedly burgling a sports bet Company located in the place and reportedly carting away nine hundred thousand naira, National Network can confirm.
A resident of the area told our reporter that the suspects were identified by means of Close Circuit Television(CCTV) camera installed in the shop which they thought was not functional.
Our source explained that after the incident, one of the suspects who sells cooked indomie at the front of a popular brothel in the area probably sensing they may be exposed packed his things and left the place.
Our source disclosed that the security personnel ‘Bebe’ joined the operators of the company in a meeting to discuss how to unravel identity of persons behind the burgling of the company unknown to him that the owners of the company are aware that he(Bebe) led the operation.
Police Officers from Nkpolu Divisional headquarters came where they were and arrested ‘Bebe’ and the second suspect who was present in the meeting.
The spokesperson of Rivers State Police Command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni, was yet to respond to our inquiry into the incident as he did reply text messages sent by our reporter.
A Police source however, confirmed the incident adding that investigation has commenced into the matter.
As at time of filing this report, the suspects were still in Police custody.
