…Lauds Governor Wike For Approving University Campus
Emohua local government chairman, High Chief Tom Aliezi, has commended the Governor of Rivers State, his Excellency Nyesom Ezenwo Wike , for approving the establishment of a campus of Rivers State University in Emohua local government area, describing the gesture of the governor as one that will usher in development in the area.
He stated that the university campus when activated will bring life to economic activities in the area , as well as improve the social life of the people of the area.
The council chairman spoke when he led the management team of Rivers State University led by the vice chancellor of the university, Prof Nlerum Sunday Okogbule, on a visit to the proposed site for the establishment of the university campus along Emohua-Kalabari road on Wednesday.
He described the decision of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, to convert the long abandoned building for Government Secondary Emohua to a university campus with two faculties for a start as a well thought out initiative that will not only decongest the main campus of the university in Nkpolu-Oroworukwo in PortHarcourt city local government area , but will also open up Emohua local government area and neighbouring kalabari Communities for rapid development.
He urged the youths and other stakeholders of the host Communities of the university campus to give the management of the university the necessary support to ensure a smooth take off of the campus.
The vice Chancellor of Rivers State University, Prof Nlerum Sunday Okogbule, who led top management staff of the university on the visit said they were at the proposed site of the university campus for an on the spot accessment of the facility.
He said that the management of the university is strongly in support of the Governor’s decision to establish the new university campus.
The vice Chancellor said that the report from the on the spot accessment visit to the proposed site of the university campus will form basis for the commencement of work at the site with the approval from Rivers State Government.
