Apst. Ogu Wins ‘COVID-19 Compliance Champion Award”

The General Overseer of Abundant Life Evangel Mission (ALEM), Apostle Eugene Egwuatu Ogu has been decorated for strictly complying with the COVID-19 protocols during church services and other church activities by the civil society Organization against Corona Virus.

According to the leader of the organization, Mr Emmanuel Nkweke.the organization had since the outbreak of the pandemic been monitoring churches’ adherence to the COVID -19 protocols, adding that among more than 150 churches the organization visited during the exercise, ALEM scored the highest mark.

Chronicling their experiences during the monitoring exercise, he said the organization which is affiliated with the Ministry of Health, Nigeria Center for Diseases Control (NCDC), and World Health Organisation (WHO) visited various health facilities and isolation centers and stressed the need for adherence to the COVID -19 precautionary measures.

Responding on behalf of the church, Pastor Iyke Nwawuike noted that the award may not be unconnected with the sacrifices of the General Overseer who irrespective of the fears associated with the pandemic was able to raise the faith of the church members above fear.

He commended his kind gestures and special care towards the members during the period explaining that Apostle Ogu was sharing palliatives to members of the church every other week to cushion the effects of the ravaging pandemic on them and thanked God for the grace upon his life and ministry.

On his part, Apostle Ogu said the compliance was achieved as a result of total obedience and compliance to the word of God stressing that compliance has to do with the people who are ready to obey and heed to instructions.

Affirming that COVID – 19 is real and deadly, the man of God outlined the measures he put in place to ensure that ALEM members did not contract the disease and prayed God to heal Nigeria and the world.
