The Paramount Ruler/Nyenweli Mgbundukwu Community in Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt LGA, Eze Owabie Tobin says the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike deserves every support and encouragement to prosecute the controversial war on the Value Added Tax ( VAT ) which according to him is a road-map to the long awaited economic and political restructuring of the country.
Speaking with newsmen in his palace, the monarch said the Governor has again shown the way for others to follow as a visionary leader. While appreciating the Southern Governor’s Forum for throwing their weight behind Wike’s effort in the national interest, Eze Owabie slammed the Ebonyi State Governor, Chief David Umahi for Sabotaging his colleagues for his own parochial interest; adding that posterity will judge him and find a place for him as a traitor.
The Paramount Ruler warned the Northern Political Leaders against negatively influencing the Supreme courts judges that would eventually look into the matter arguing that anything order than upholding the Rivers High Court decision would spell doom for the country. He further stated that a sincere leader would indeed encourage the federating States to look inwards and develop their own God’s given potentials instead of waiting for a monthly handouts from the federation Account which he noted is not evenly distributed.
Eze Owabie also expressed his appreciation to the State Governors who supported the Rivers Governor in enacting a law against the open grazing system which he noted does not benefit the nation in anyway. He equally used the opportunity to warn President Muhammadu Buhari against his incessant borrowing of funds which according to the monarch is only to mortgage the future of the unborn generation of Nigerians.
“There is no visible project he is using the loans for except to squander with his cronnies and mortgage the future of Nigerians unborn”. Back home, Eze Owabie congratulated the lawmaker representing Obio/Akpor Constituency II, Hon Michael Okechukwu Chinda for presenting the R/S Prohibition of the Curtailment of the Rights of Women to Share in Family Property Bill, 2021 describing him as one of the vocal, ebullient and courageous parliamentarian Rivers State has Produced.
He disclosed further that this Bill which has already passed the first reading when enacted will reduce the discrimination and friction in the families emanating especially from polygamous families where there is no male child or those forcing their female children not to be married out as a result.
He maintained that good politicians are those who consult their constituencies to know their challenges and give it such priority attention for their overall interest.
He also used the opportunity to appeal to the Rivers Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike to take it easy with his brother and National Chairman of the People’s Democratic party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus in as much as it is necessary everything is done to restrategise and reposition the Party in order to reclaim the power in 2023 from what he said was the clawless APC-led administration.
