PCRC Advocates For Better Welfare, Equipment For Police

The Police Community Relation Committee (PCRC) has once more appealed to the Nigeria Police Force authorities to equip the officers and men of the force with better weapons and patrol vans to enable them do their job better.

The state chairman of the PCRC, Chief Casca Ogosu made this appeal over the weekend in Port Harcourt during the 2021 End-of-the-year party which the PCRC Elekahia branch organized for the station.

Represented by his deputy, Chief Emmanuel Iyke Ejire, the PCRC said there should be continuous synergy between the civilians and the police in fighting crime.

 Also speaking, the PCRC chairman of the Elekahia Police Station, Elder Chief (Amb) Emmanuel Obi used the opportunity to welcome the first female Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for the station in the person of CSP Oha Ngozi Ada and pledged their unrelented support to her administration to achieve set goal.

The chairman used the opportunity to reel out all their achievements to the station in the past years to include renovation of the station, provision of convenience for the serving officers and car park among others.

He also appealed to the Rivers state government to come to the rescue of the station by assisting the PCRC to erect a storey building in the compound which he said will serve as a guest house, restaurant and a PCRC secretariat.

The Paramount Ruler/Nyenweli Rebisi Kingdom, HRM Eze Uche Isaiah Elikwu who was represented also lent his voice in ensuring that the station enjoys a better welfare package.

He assured the gathering that his subjects will be made to join the PCRC to support the police in any way possible to reduce crime and criminality in the area.

Highlights of the occasion was the winning, dinning and dancing by the policemen and the invited guest as well as Awards of Excellence given to the D.P.O and her DCO II, ASP Kate Agwana.

Earlier, Revd. Innocent Wachijem of the chapel of Victory Int’l Church, Elekahia-Rumukalagbor Link road, Port Harcourt in a sermon before the party had preached that Christians should practice the habit of doing good to others at all times.

He disclosed that goodness is a siege and that it has a way of returning back to the doer.

“If God has in anyway prosper you, it is necessary one extends it to other less privileged in the society to the glory of God,” he said.

The man of God made it known that “services to humanity” which is the slogan of the PCRC should indeed be a guiding principle to everybody especially at this yuletide period.

The DPO in her reaction thanked the PCRC for their continuous support to the station and appealed to the group not to relent.

She promised on their part all the cooperation they require for them to render their services maximally.

She thanked everybody who made the day a success as well as the Awards of recognition extended to her and her DCO II on behalf of the commissioner of police and the area commander.
