Alleged Harassment, Exploitation Of Female Students: Polytechnic Lecturer Denies Receiving Suspension Letter

Zeo Solomon Tamunotonye, a lecturer with Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Rumuola who was suspended by the institution for alleged harassment, exploitation of female students sayd he only heard of his suspension on the media and has not been served with any letter.

The lecturer made the disclosure while reacting to news of his suspension by the institution .

Mr Tamunotonye stated that he is open for unbiased investigation while calling on the State Governor,  House of Assembly and Commissioner of Education to look into the matter.

The school management had in a statement signed by the institution’s Registrar,  recently suspended the lecturer for three months for alleged harassment and exploitation of female students amongst other acts prejudicial to the good name of the school and set up a committee to investigate and submit its report in one month.

Mr Tamunotonye had in an interview with Journalists claimed the female student, Blessing Audu defrauded him of N250,000  contrary to insinuation in some quarters that he effected the arrest of the female student because she turned down his marriage proposal.

The lecturer said that the insinuation was a cheap blackmail by the female student to whip up public sympathy after defrauding him and stealing his property.

Mr Tamunotonye stated that the family of the female student would have gone to thanksgiving if he asked their daughter’s hand in marriage considering the kind of person he is.

The lecturer however, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka Friday had resolved the matter.

The female student, Blessing Audu in an interview with our correspondent insisted that she did not defraud the lecturer of any money neither did she steal his POS or any other property.

She claimed the lecturer started accusing her of theft and fraud, after she turned down his marriage proposal.

Blessing Audu appreciated CP Eboka for intervening in the matter.

It would be recalled that Blessing Lucky was arrested on Wednesday 29,December, 2021 and detained for two days at Sani Abacha Police Division but was released on 31st December, after the Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka Friday interviewed  her and the lecturer and ordered her release.
