Anglican Communion Inaugurates Okuru-Ama Deanery
…As Vicar Assures Completion Of Ongoing Projects
The Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Okuru-Ama in Port Harcourt Local Government Area has been inaugurated intoa full Deanery, and now to be known as Okuru-Ama Deanery.
Speaking during his episcopal visit to the new Deanery, the Bishop, Okrika Diocese of the Anglican Communion, His Lordship, Rt. Rev. Enoch Atuboyedia JP, said the inauguration of thechurch to a Deanery, was propelled by the love which the leadership of the Diocese had for the people of Okuru-Ama kingdom.
The Bishop said with this inauguration, members of the Deanery would begin to play host to the several programmes of the Diocese of Okrika, stressing on the need for members of the church to complete all ongoing projects.
“During the Synod ofOkrika Diocese this year, the leaders would announce some events and programmes your Deanery would host. Therefore, whatever you are doing or projects you have embarked, try to complete or finish it on time”, Bishop Atuboyedia charged.
He commended members of Okuru-Ama Council of Chiefs, women and CDC members for the warm reception accorded him and his wife during his episcopal visit to the church.
In his remarks, theVicar of the church, Rev. Cannon Kenneth Odikibo,described the inauguration as a dream come true as, according to him, members of the church have been expecting the inauguration for a very long time.
The Vicar assured the Bishop and members of the Diocese that the leadership of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Okuru-Ama would work round the clock to complete all ongoing projects, promising that the church will soon be dedicated.
“I feel very happy that under my administration as the Vicar of this church, Okuru-Ama is now a Deanery. Besides, I want to assure our Bishop and members of the church that I will complete all ongoing projects at the church as well as ensure that the church will be ready for dedication”, he reassured.
He lauded members of the Deanery Inauguration Committee and the entire faithful for their contributions towards the success of the event.
Also speaking, a member of the church, Hon. Siyeofori Godspower said he was delighted to be alive to see the inauguration of Okuru-Ama Deanery.
On his part, the Chairman of the Synod Planning Committee, Sir (Chief) Geoffrey Orabodoshowered praises to God for the privilege to be part of history, adding that the journey for the creation and inauguration of the Deanery commenced in 2021.
Meanwhile, the CDC Chairman of Okuru-Ama community, Hon. Fidelis Okuruhas declared that as the body of Christ and members of the Diocese continue to touch lives in the kingdom, the Okuru-Ama community would continue to pray and partner with them.
