Ahoada Area Divisional Police Headquarters Wears New Look
Ahoada Area Divisional Police headquarters has been given a facelift. This is sequel to the building and completion of a new security tower, a new fence, car park and office building. SP Chukwuekwu Uweagha, the DPO built new facilities which were commissioned over the weekend.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the DPO said it was the first time a new structure of this magnitude was being provided since the birth of the police station many years ago.
He said on his assumption of office on April 20, 2021, he met the division with a lot of challenges, ranging from high rate of insecurity, no movable patrol vehicles, poorly equipped administrative office, poor toilet facilities, poor water supply, dilapidated exhibit room, lack of offices and lots more.
He thanked God that the challenges he was faced with have fizzle out with the help of the Council Chairman, Barr. Ben Eke, some patriotic indigenes of the area and their sister agencies, adding that there has been a tremendous improvement on the area of security where citizens can now sleep with their two eyes closed.
He pleaded with the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Eboka Friday to assist them with serviceable patrol vehicles and adequate manpower for effective service delivery in the area.
His Majesty, Dr. Felix Enene Otuwarikpo, Eze Igbu Upata Upata III of Upata Kigndom assured the Commissioner of Police that the traditional council and the people of Upata kingdom will continue to work as a team because as heads of communities, they have no option but to partner with the security agencies to keep peace in their various communities which he said has helped them.
“Policing is a collective responsibility and it will be more effective in areas where the communities cooperate with the officers, cooperate by providing the needed intelligence. When there is that synergy between the officers and the community, stakeholders will have effective policing,” the royal father remarked.
The monarch described the cordial relationship between police and the traditional institution as a necessary collaboration for intelligence sharing and possible joint operation because the police cannot be everywhere. But the police can work everywhere when given credible intelligence, he noted.
Eze Otuwarikpo said the traditional Amnesty program they had sometime in 2019 where 334 youths were disarmed and surrendered to government was largely driven by the security agencies especially the police command.
He also made a passionate appeal to CP Eboka to assist the division with at least 3 vehicles in discharging their duties as the general elections is at the corner, noting that inspite of the level of security they have attained, election period is a period when notorious politicians and those who do not mean well for the society provide secret logistic for the bad boys to disturb the peace of the area.
CP Eboka Friday who was represented by DCP Peter Nwabara commended the DPO for conceiving and actualizing such a worthy project and stressed that so many Area Commanders and DPOs have come and gone but none was able to do what the present Area Command and his DPO have done.
He thanked all that contributed in one way or the other in ensuring that the Ahoada Area Command and the Divisional Officer wears a new look, and promised to look into the issues raised.
He stressed that the CP was happy with the low level of crime and criminality in Ahoada Area Command, noting that the effective collaboration between the police and other security agencies is encouraging and urged them to sustain the in same tempo.
DCP Nwabara urged parents to advise their children not to make themselves a willing to politicians and keep away from crimes.
