Wave FM Reporter, Obed Douglas Bags Leadership Award

Wave FM reporter, Obed Douglas, was honoured over the weekend by the organizers of the ONELGA Outstanding Leadership Award.

The event which held at the Omoku Civic Centre, was the maiden edition of the award, and the award was in the media category as the Media Personality of the year.

While presenting the award, the chief organizer of the event, Igwe Jefferson, said he earned the recognition based on my constant news reportage on ONELGA and beyond.

He particularly said: “Obed Douglas has been very, very hardworking. He has been giving a balanced reportage of the happenings in ONELGA and its environment. He is worthy of being celebrated. He has done so much for the ONELGA people and deserves to be celebrated.”

Obed while speaking to journalists after the award said he was pleasantly surprised and would want to thank the organizers for the honour bestowed on him, saying it was an award he never lobby for.

“This demonstrates that my efforts and services to the society are being noticed and acknowledged. So, from the bottom of my heart I say, thank you all.

“My gratitude will be incomplete without appreciating my ardent followers on TopRank daily news updates. Your comments and good wishes are highly appreciated.

“I also thank you all for your congratulatory messages on the award, which messages are still pouring in even as I write this. Forgive me for the inability to mention your names individually.

“Also, special thanks to my Wave FM colleagues, especially my Head of News. You all are wonderful people”, he said.

He dedicated the award to God Almighty who he said, has been sustaining and protecting him in his journey of life.

He also dedicated the award to two prominent individuals “who have affected my life positively. I am grateful to them till the end of time. They are Hon Vincent Job, the ONELGA Council Chairman, and a renowned Ogba educationist, Chief(Dr) Ben-Fred Ohia.

It was gathered that top Rivers State PDP aspirant, Bro Felix Obuah was honoured as Media Icon, the ONELGA council chairman, Hon Vincent Job received award on good governance, while Rivers State OSPAC General Commander, Comrade Kingsley Ogwumike was also honoured on security.

11 other individuals were also honoured at the event including ace comedian ThankGod Ukpaka aka Holy Shrine.
