Mgbundukwu Community Crisis: Paramount Ruler Eze Owabie Tobin Wins Round One
The chieftaincy crisis that has been rocking the Mgbundukwu Community in Mile II, Diobu Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of Rivers State has taken another twist.
According to the press release signed and made available to the press, the palace secretary, Chief Chijioke Amadi said that “The Paramount Ruler/Nyenweil Mgbundukwu Community, HRH Eze Owabie Tobin has won the round one of the matter, adding that factional leaders of the community could not prove their case against the monarch at the zone16 of the Rivers/Bayelsa Police Command where the matter was reported.
The release further stated that the police had reasoned that “Since the community did not present any challenger to the said throne and the monarch having substantiated his coronation for the throne with evidence shows that he is still the king.
The palace secretary said that the paramount ruler is not taking the matter lying low and that they have perfected plans to sue the factional leaders of the community to the Port Harcourt High Court accusing them of malicious damages, libel and defamation of character.
They disclosed further that it has been discovered that the attack on the paramount ruler was politically motivated as the king was perceived to be having sympathy with the Wike PDP government, while the said leaders were predominantly of the APC opposition party in the state.
Most of these leaders, sources say are on the run as the royal father prepares to start the round two of the matter.
The good thing according to a neighbouring community leader, Mr. Simeon Wigodo is that the case has not affected the administration or socio-economic activities of the Mgbundukwu Community neither have they resorted to violence as some other community would have done. He advised them to take it easy and allow the sleeping dog to lie as the king has been representing them well since the past 23 years he has been on the throne.
