The Rivers State flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in next year’s governorship election, Sir Siminilayi Fubara has reacted to some abusive statements apparently coming from an opposition party’s event at Opobo held on Thursday, September 1, 2022, anchored by some All Progressives Congress (APC) elements, saying that ‘only non-indigenes and strangers’ struggle for support and abuses people to get attention.
He emphasized that as an indigene and free born of Opobo whose home training, parentage and whose ancestral home still stands in Opobo Kingdom, only characters worthy of emulation can be attributed to him and not the other way round.
Fubara, who was speaking at the grand finale of the Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI) Permanent Voters Card (PVC) collection sensitization rally at Opobo Town on Saturday, September 3, 2022, said the people of Opobo Nkoro Local Government Area know what to do as it concerns the forthcoming electoral season, and as such would sound like a broken record, telling them what to do.
He stated that at the appropriate time, Opobo Nkoro Local Government Area would do the needful.
The PDP Guber candidate thanked all those who made it to the rally, and specially applauded the council of Amapu and party chieftain who left their busy schedules to attend the ceremony.
It will be recalled that the All Progressives Congress (APC) organized an event in Opobo on Thursday, September 1, 2022, anchored by Dr. Dakuku Peterside, where they reportedly received a decamping former Caretaker Committee Chairman from the PDP into the party.
Meanwhile, former member of the APC Board of trustees, Dr. Sam-Sam Jaja has conveyed the deepest appreciation of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area and indeed Andoni/Opobo/Nkoro Federal Constituency through the party Chairman to His Excellency, Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and members of the PDP for listening to divine instruction and choosing a son of Opobo Kingdom to run for Governor in 2023.
Dr. Jaja further said Sir Fubara is no longer seen as just an Opobo man from now, buta Rivers man and when God has started a project, no one should stand in His way as those who tries to do so won’t survive God’s wrath.
