Rumuokwurusi Chairman Flags Off Skills Acquisition Training For  Indigenes

The chairman Rumuokwurusi Town Council (RTC), Comrade Osi Wosu has flagged of skills acquisition programme for indigenes of Rumuokwurusi community.

The training programme which started on the 10th of August, 2022 he told our correspondent was aimed at engaging the indigenes, particularly the youths in useful skills which would empower them to face the future.

According to him, 400 persons had already completed their training in Liquid soap production, air freshener, bleach, vim, insecticide, liquid starch, custard making, perfume and bar soaps production.

Other areas the indigenes were being trained include, fashion designing which will run for one year, catering, computer, driving, shoe making, bead making arranging of hair ties in fashionable manner (gele), facial make-up, production of chemicals like insecticides and adult education which will run till October ending.

In an earlier interview, the RTC chairman Osi Wosu had said the training programme was part of his campaign promises which he had carried out just after two months they were elected. He said the programme which he described as a vision would make 80% of Rumuokwurusi people independent and self reliant within the shortest possible time.

Comrade Wosu told our correspondent that he was determined to engage the Rumuokwurusi youths in skills in order to prevent them from taking part in cultism and various other crimes that pervade the society.

The town council chairman who is described as highly intelligent and articulate, further said he was carrying out these empowerment programmes in order to leave a legacy Rumuokwurusi people would remember his administration for.

“I intend to leave a legacy that the people of Rumuokwurusi will remember our administration for,” he said.
