Supremacy Battle Between Suspected Cult Groups Claims One Life In Diobu
One person is said to be feared dead at Echue Waterfront, Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt following a clash between two suspected factions of Deygbam cult groups, we have learned.
We gathered that one faction of suspected Deygbam cult groups had invaded Echue Waterfront on Monday evening where a member of the rival faction was reportedly hacked to death over issues bordering on territorial control.
Our correspondent reports that suspected Deygbam faction whose member was reportedly hacked to death went on the rampage on Tuesday afternoon attacking and robbing passers-by around Timber, Eagle Island Junction/Illabouchi, Mile 2 Diobu as shop owners hurriedly locked up their stores while other passers-by scampered for safety.
An eyewitness who gave his name as Peter Okosa told our reporter that the hoodlums were about fifty in number .Mr Okosa disclosed that some vigilant group members and some security personnel around the vicinity took to their heels as the hoodlums approached.
Our correspondent who visited the area on Tuesday afternoon observed that about six Police patrol vans were patrolling the axis as at Tuesday afternoon.
The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police command, SP Grace Iringe Koko was yet to respond to text messages sent to her mobile phone on enquiry into the incident.
