Tearful Farewell As Deborah Somiari Goes Home, Saturday”

The somber atmosphere in Tombia community of Degema Local Government Area, Rivers State is expected to intensify on Saturday, June 17, 2023 as the body of late Mrs. Deborah (Charity) Somiari, the revered wife of Dr. Inengisa Somiari, will be laid to rest.

Deborah passed away on November 22, 2022 at the age of 57, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and service to God and humanity.

According to Dr. Inengisa Somiari, Minister of the gospel, author and veteran sports journalist reputed to have founded the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in Rivers State, his late wife, affectionately called ‘Charity’ by many, was a pillar of strength for those who came in contact with her, tirelessly working to uplift their lives.

“I married my wife, Mrs. Deborah (Charity) Somiari in August 1994. She was an inspiration to me, because she understood me very well and as such helped me to achieve so much in life.

Sadly, she had partial stroke in 2020, and in less than six months was miraculously healed.

“Her healing was surprising even to doctors at UPTH.  According to Rivers United FC Team Doctor, Dr. Chuks Agi, who is a senior consultant, “This is nothing but the finger of God”.

“My late wife, who is from Tombia, became a living testimony and encouragement to many until her glorious exit on 22nd November, 2022. She is survived by my humble self and a miracle youngster, David Obakam (God is mighty) Somiari. She was aged 57 years”.

The news of Deborah Somiari’s passing sent shockwaves, as people from all walks of life mourned her loss. The impact of her death was felt far and wide, as evidenced by the outpouring of heartfelt tributes.

As the sun sets on Saturday, Tombia will mourn the passing of a beloved daughter, but also celebrate the indelible mark she left behind.
