A prominent support group in Rivers State that contributed to the election victory and emergence of Sir Siminalayi Fubara. “Team Felix Obuah 4 Siminalayi Fubara” (TFO4SIM) over the weekend organized and celebrated a thanksgiving service at the Church of God (Seven Days) Family Worship Centre, Eagle Island, Port Harcourt.
Delivering the sermon at the church service, Pastor Douglas Iyama decried the attitude and character most believers exhibit especially in the House of God which he noted scare away intending members instead of attracting and uniting them for God.
The man of God appealed to the body of Christ to endeavour to ensure what he called practical Christianity by reaching out to the less privileged in the church and by extension the society, lamenting that Christians of this generation appear to be more interested in the things of the world.
He made it clear that God is more interested in those who extend goodness to their follow men than waiting to make a public display of it to Him, through thanksgiving service.
Pastor Iyama demonstrated this teaching when he asked the Support Group and indeed, the congregation to pick up the N350,000 hospital bill of their blind member, Bro Obiora George whose condition appears hopeless as his family of five has abandoned him to his fate since eight years.
The group accepted to defray 50% of the bill while the remaining amount was shared by the Church members. The beneficiary, Bro George in an interview expressed happiness for the gesture and thanked God for remembering him at last.
In their thanksgiving, the Director-General of the group, Hon. Sir Dr. Precious Baridoo thanked God for seeing them through throughout the electioneering campaigns. He equally expressed appreciation to God for a successful inauguration and peaceful transition.
