Rivers Cattle Dealers Drum Support For Fubara Administration
Chairman, Elelenwo Cattle Dealers Market in Obio Akpor local government area of Rivers State, Alhaji Khalilu Isah Adam has called on all Moslems to rally support for the success of the administration of Governor Siminiliayi Fubara.
Alhaji Isah who spoke to newsmen during sallah visit at his home in Port Harcourt commended the Fubara administration for the support his Government accorded the Moslem Community in the state in this year’s sallah celebrations.
According to the cattle Dealers chairman, this year’s sallah was celebrated with joy and happiness among all Muslims in the state as a result of the financial and material support provided by the administration of Governor Fubara to the Rivers Moslem Community.
He described sallah as celebration of faith and sacrifices as demostrated by Prophet Abraham in the holy books and called on all Moslem in the state to continue to pray for the peace and stability of Rivers State and the Nigeria nation. “Nigerian Moslems must remain dedicated to the worship of Allah to ensure his continued blessings on mankind”, the chairman stated.
Secretary of the group, Idris Abubakar charged Moslems and Christian’s alike to understand that they serve the same God adding that both the holy Koran and the Bible speak of same prophets and believe in one universal God.
He pledged the commitment of the Elelenwo cattle Dealers to provide healthy cows for meat consumers in the state adding that the issue of anthrax disease outbreak as reported in some countries does not exist in it’s cattle market.
“We feed our cows with imported special feeds and also provide medical attention to them at least every two weeks to keep them healthy”, the secretary declared.
Meanwhile, the Chief Imam of Obio Akpor Central Mosque in Obio Akpor local government area, Alhaji Abdulgafar Alani Salaudeen has appealed to Governor Siminilaiye Fubara to restore the sponsorship of Muslims in the state to embark on Pilgrimages to the Holy Land of Mecca like their counterparts in other states in Nigeria.
Speaking to newsmen after prayers at the Obio Akpor praying ground, the Chief Imam expressed appreciations to Governor Fubara for providing over 200 bags of rice and other assistance given to moslems in the state for the sallah celebrations.
Alhaji Salaudeen describing the gesture as a new biginning for Rivers moslems stressing that apart from the Peter Odili administration that carried along both indigines and non indigenes alike, subsequent administrations had in the past seven years not given due attention to the Moslem Community in the state. “We want our Governor to restore hajji sponsorship for moslems in Rivers State. For over seven years, no Muslim has embarked on Hajji in the state”,.
He charged the Moslem Community in the state to fear God by emulating the sacrifices of Abraham advising worshipers who could not afford rams for sallah to make do with what they have.
On his part, Salaudeen Olawale Usman who spoke on behalf of non indigene members of the All Progressive Congress APC in Rivers State commended Governor Fubara for his love for the Muslim Community in the state adding that the Muslim non indigenes in the APC will continue to pray for the success of his administration.
He equally lauded former Governor Nyesom Wike for his efforts and contributions in the victory of the APC presidential candidate, Alhaji Ahmed Bola Tinubu in the last elections stressing that his singular efforts saved the party from political disgrace.
