Police Investigate Discovery Of Mutilated Dead Body In Port Harcourt
The Rivers State Police Command has commenced investigation into the circumstance that led to the dumping of a mutilated male corpse with several machete cuts at Ayama/ Olu-Obasanjo Road, Port Harcourt along Ikoku axis of Port Harcourt, the state capital
Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Grace Iringe Koko in response to the incident urged anyone with useful information regarding the mutilated corpse to come forward to assist the Police with investigation.
The Police PRO explained that on November 9, 2024, at about 10:30am, the Rivers State Police Command received a report of an unidentified corpse lying near Ayama Junction/Ikokwu Spare Parts Market, along Olu-Obasanjo Road, Port Harcourt and accordingly. Our operatives promptly responded to the scene.
She stated that upon investigation, it was discovered that the deceased was a suspected notorious individual known for serial burglary and stealing in Ikokwu and its environs.
According to SP Koko, preliminary findings suggest that the individual may have been lynched by angry mob at the scene while attempting to commit a crime, and his remains were subsequently dumped on the road, where it was struck by a fast-moving vehicle, resulting in significant bodily damage.
“Fortunately, all vital organs were found intact. The corpse has been evacuated, and a thorough investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident. “We urge anyone with useful information regarding this incident to come forward and assist our investigation,” SP Koko said.
