FCE Omoku: Dr. Ikenyiri Celebrates Five Years Of Significant Development, Aims For University Status

The Provost of the Federal College of Education (Technical) Omoku, Dr. Emmanuel Ikenyiri has expressed satisfaction with the rapid development of the campus during his tenure, attributing the success to divine guidance.

Dr. Ikenyiri, who stated this in an exclusive interview with TopRank News, shortly after commissioning of landmark projects by the Board of Trustees of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) team, described it as a historic moment for the institution.

The Provost disclosed that over the past five years, TETFUND has overseen the inspection and commissioning of various completed projects, including:

  • A two-storey building for chief lecturers’ offices
  • A two-storey building for the School of Languages
  • A two-storey building for the School of Business Education
  • A two-storey building for the School of Education
  • Renovations to the college clinic, among others.

Dr. Ikenyiri emphasized that, in his 26 years as a lecturer and now as Provost, the college boasts facilities that rival those of many universities across the country. He encouraged prospective students to consider the college’s peaceful learning environment.

Additionally, Dr. Ikenyiri announced that TETFUND has awarded a contract for the construction of a new convocation auditorium, expected to commence within the next three weeks. He highlighted that these advancements are occurring under his leadership.

He also noted that the college now offers nine degree programs, significantly increasing student enrollment, despite challenges related to insufficient federal funding, which has impeded the completion of the college’s fencing.

A TETFUND representative from the South-South region, Dr. Kuru Dogan, praised Dr. Ikenyiri for his impressive achievements and stated that the TETFUND team visited to assess the effective use of funds and understand the challenges faced by beneficiary institutions.
