Mass Communication Graduates Reunite With Birthday Bash

Some graduates of the Department of Mass Communications at the former Rivers State University of Science and Technology (now Rivers State University), Port Harcourt have reunited with a birthday celebration.

The event which held at the popular SunMoon Garden Resort, along Woji Road, GRA in Port Harcourt on Sunday, June 27, 2022, brought together the mass-communicators who congregate under the auspices of Mass Communication Students Association (MACOSA) Set of 2011.

The highflier group had agreed to cumulate their birthday celebrations twice a year, with those born between January and June, to celebrate at the end of June while those born between July and December would take their turn at the end of December.

This arrangement which had been in ‘pipeline’ for the past three months eventually birthed the bash, which served like home coming with many of the members seeing themselves for the very first time after graduating from the university in 2011.  Hugging and embracing one another, there was no dull moment as the elated members danced and clanged glasses of wine and beer.

The erstwhile young men and women celebrated their successes as many have risen to echelon heights in business, politics, media and legal professions, and other professional careers.

Highlight of the ceremony was the cutting of the birthday cake as the ‘guest members’ sang the ‘happy birthday’ song to the core celebrants. In unison, the January to June celebrants grabbed the knife, and at the spelling of ‘Jesus’, they brought down the knife as cheers hit the roof!

Hon. Isaiah Gogo-Ogute who stood in for absentee Chairman, George Gad addressed the gathering and thanked them for honoring the invitation despite their tight schedules.  He urged them to remain good ambassadors of Macosa Set of 2011 by deploying their mastery of Mass Communication in their respective endeavours.

Gogo-Ogute, a one-time Caretaker Committee Chairman of Andoni Local Government Area, charged the July to December celebrants to ‘retaliate’ and outdo the January to June celebrants when they host the group in December.  He gave kudos to the Secretary, Lolo Stella Ebosie for what he described as her organizational prowess in bringing members together, while urging others to emulate her example.

The group used the occasion to hold their meeting which discussed among others, how to chart a brighter future for the joy and happiness of all.
