Dr. Kalagbor Emerges Chairman Of COHEADS
The Rector, Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Rumuola, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Dr.(Barr.) Samuel B.Kalagbor has emerged as the Chairman of Council of Heads of Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology in Nigeria( COHEADS).
He was elected at a Special meeting of the Council in Abuja.
The Council of Heads of Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology in Nigeria(COHEADS) comprises over 150 Rectors/Provosts of Federal, State and Private Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology in Nigeria. It is an equivalent of the Committee of Vice Chancellors(CVC) in Nigeria.
Its objectives, among others, include to provide a forum for Chief Executives of Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology to exchange experiences on the academic and administrative activities of various institutions, contribute and exert influence on the growth and development of technical and vocational education in Nigeria as well as offer advisory opinions to the National Board for Technical Education(NBTE).
Dr. Kalagbor has made history as the first Rivers State person to be elected to the exalted position and the second in the South-South Region of Nigeria after over four decades of the existence of the body.
Also elected are Engr. Dr. Usman Kallamu, Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu, Yobe State, Vice Chairman and Prof. A.U. Nweze, Rector, IMT, Enugu, Treasurer.
