Eze Owabie Tobin Commends Wike Over Delivery Of Oroworukwu Flyover
The Paramount Ruler/Nyenweli of Mgbundukwu Community, Diobu in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of Rivers State, HRH Eze Owabie Tobin has commended the State Governor, Chief Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for flagging-off and commissioning the Nkpolu Oroworukwo flyover on schedule.
Speaking with newsmen during the commissioning of the project Thursday, November 17, 2022, the monarch said the flyover will not only beautify the area but would reduce man-hour loss and as well attract investment opportunities up to the Eagle Island community.
He however, was not comfortable with the naming of the facility after one community in the area and leaving out the two other communities in the exercise. He explained that the other communities left out are Rumuwoji and Mgbundukwu, adding that the marginalization of these communities was obvious even at the reception ceremony and called on the authorities to rectify the anomaly.
The Royal Father further stated that the naming would have been “Nkpolu Rumurodo Community comprising all of us”, he declared.
The “Eze Onumini I of Mgbundukwu Community also described as a welcome development the dualization of the Iloabuchi Street in Mile 2 Diobu as it will equally open up the area for further investment opportunities and pleaded for the timely completion of the project to reduce the sufferings of the road users.
Eze Owabie also used the opportunity to congratulate Barr. (Mrs) Blessing Chigeru Amadi for her emergence as the PDP candidate to represent the Port Harcourt constituency II at the House of Representative in the 2023 general election, promising to mobilize, support for her ambition, describing her as a dependable and reliable personality.
In another development, the Women group of Nkpolu Orowukwo have poured encomium on the State governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for the construction of the flyover bridge at Ikokwu Motor Spare Parts Market Area otherwise known as Nkpolu Oroworukwu Flyover.
In a chat with newsmen over the weekend during the commissioning of the bridge, the women leader of the group, Mrs Angela Bright Echeonwu said the facility has not only improved the beauty of the area but has reduced the traffic congestion as well as the insecurity challenges normally experienced there.
She said that the governor is indeed a promise keeper and pledged on their own to continue supporting his political aspiration including that of his successor, Sir Sim Fubara in order to consolidate on his achievements all these years.
The women however appealed to the governor to empower them at this point in time, adding that any empowerment for them as home keepers goes a long way to positively affect their individual families.
Mrs Echeonwu said the empowerment could come through direct cash disbursement, employment opportunities or skill acquisition scheme.
Mrs. Echeonwu used the opportunity to advise her women to do all within their reach to mobilize support and vote in all the PDP candidates in the forth-coming election with their PVCs in appreciation to the governor for all his achievements for the state.
